Initial Situation
There were no up-to-date as-built plans for the planned modernization and expansion of an existing industrial hall with adjacent office space. Due to the complex roof geometry and limited accessibility on site, traditional surveying was virtually impossible. The goal was to create a precise, digital basis for further planning within a short period of time without significantly disrupting ongoing operations.
Solution
Scala X combined state-of-the-art mobile and airborne laser scanning techniques:
The NavVis VLX3 was used to capture high-resolution images of the interior and exterior structure of the hall, while a laser scanning drone supplemented the roof areas and hard-to-reach areas. The various point clouds were then combined to create a complete, consistent database that was accurate as of the reporting date.
Result
The result is a comprehensive digital inventory of the entire industrial building, including hall, roof, and office areas. The point cloud is available to the customer for direct reuse in common model-based planning software. This allows future modernizations and renovations to be planned precisely and cost-effectively, while keeping on-site work to a minimum.
Added Value
Inventory digitization with SCAN4DOCUMENTATION provides an accurate digital basis for planning and documentation, ensuring that projects are based on reliable, up-to-date data. Fast and precise data capture minimizes operational disruptions. The combination of ground and drone scans ensures maximum detail and captures even hard-to-reach areas completely. This creates an optimal starting point for modernization, expansion, and renovation. In addition, digital inventory documentation provides valuable support in facility management by providing transparent building data that can be accessed at any time.
